Olwen Troy

Black Widow

As We Know It
« on: April 18, 2017, 09:53:32 AM »
Olwen Troy had spent far to long under the over protective eye of her escort. Damian acted like all Warlord Princes, bitchy, possessive and just a touch too much of a pain in her ass for her not to bite. Biting Warlord Princes tended to end in one of two ways and neither were particulary approriate for the situation they were in. Though she couldn't help but give him a side long look and smile to herself, either outcome was usually a good way to wear off that excess energy that built up for the Blood. Since she found it hard to do all the things she had to get done at this section of the summit with a Black Jeweled Warlord Prince tailing her, she needed to find a way to shake him. That was when she noticed her family, turned and wandered over pretending to be interested in all the usual gossip and then letting him go when he asked.

Turning her head she watched her escort move towards a tall, long haired and exotic male. They were a handsome pair.

That was when she made her escape, turning too her kin and explaining that she needed to use the restroom before leaving them and heading towards the first step in her line of people she needed to interrogate tonight. This one had been a recent addition and had already hit the list of people she may actually have to make vanish just by stepping into the hall. Tobias Herondale had made the very grave mistake of stepping into the summit with her cousin, Etain and taking the place at the Troy Queens side that should have been Olwen's Fathers. That alone was not such an infraction, since, the mistake was actually made by her darling cousin, who would also be getting the sharp end of her tongue later. The boys second mistake was simply something he couldn't help.

He was a Herondale.

"Prince Herondale," Oly said smoothly striding up alongside him and slipping her arm through his then using the momentum of their stride to turn them both towards the exit and the gardens that lay beyond "I'm afraid I will have to interrupt where ever you were about to go," she made them pause briefly to pick up two flutes of champagne, passing one to him and then getting another for herself, thanking the waiter and passing him a few marks as she did so before turning back to Tobias and continuing their walk towards the gardens "We have a few things to talk about."

Tonight was not going the way Tobias had hoped. Etain was surrounded by her family, he'd had an...interesting talk with the strange woman who was apparently now the heir to his entire household, and he was tired of having a dozen eyes on him. It irritated him in a way it just wouldn't have before he'd been broken and lost Sibylla, before his life had changed. Once this would've been his element, now all he wanted was to leave.

He still kept up the appearance of civility, smiling, nodding and greeting those who joined him, but his body language gave away his lack of desire for conversation. He'd put his back to a wall, finished his drink and waited, barely keeping up the pretence of not watching Etain to catch the moment when he could return to her.

Olwen's arrival to, then quick leaving of the group of Troys hadn't gone unnoticed by Tobias, but he had lost her in the crowd as she made her way over to him, and her taking his arm caught him by surprise. For a moment he stiffened, instincts that had been pushed and rubbed raw by an entire night surrounded by powerful unknown Warlord Princes screamed at him, but Tobias forced himself to relax under her arm. By all accounts Lady Olwen wasn't a person to cross lightly, better to be on his bet behaviour, even if she was being more than a little improper at the moment.

“Of course, Lady Troy.” His voice was very nearly as gracious as he wanted it to be, as he once more forced his courtly manners into place over his gut reactions. Tobias recognised her intended direction quickly and was more than happy to get some space and air, though he wasn't enthralled with the idea of losing sight of Etain. A quick psychic message told her where he was going, and to contact him if her conversation ended. He thanked the waiter and Olwen for the champagne, sipping at it but not tasting the drink as he thought this through.

Obviously this was to do with Etain and the fact that he was escorting her, but could there be some other link, perhaps to Sibylla? His sister was a member of the hourglass after all, and Olwen was a powerful Black Widow, though he didn't know her exact rank within the Hourglass Coven. Shiori was also a Black Widow, perhaps it had something to do with the new 'Herondale heir” he had spoken to earlier. Boudicca was also a possibility, though an outside one. Aside from those, had she seen something involving him in one of her tangled webs? He didn't mean to brag, but even broken he wore a powerful jewel, and was... involved with a young Queen who wore an even stronger jewel, both scions of great houses. It was far from impossible that there was something important in his future.

Taking the excuse to disentangling their arms Tobias stepped forward and opened the door to the gardens for Olwen with a slight bow. Her arm in his felt wrong and being close to her prickled his temper, he wanted to be escorting Etain not this strange woman whose psychic scent felt like a poor forgery. Grey jewelled and a Black Widow yes, but everything else about it was off.

“And just what are those things?” Tobias asked, his mask firmly in place as he followed her through and sipped at his champagne. If it weren't for the slightly curt choice of words and clipped tone his temper might've gone unnoticed.

Olwen was not oblivious to how rude she was actually being. She’d broken several of the Blood codes of conduct just by approaching him without a male to introduce her. The thing was, the males in her life wouldn’t be introducing her to a Herondale - that was unless she had tackled Colby over the issue - and the one unaffiliated male she could utilize would not leave her alone with Tobias afterwards or kill the boy just because she was showing an interest in him. So ignoring the protocol and simply dragging the young Warlord Prince off before anyone else with a cock could notice was her only real option.

She tried to hide her amusement at his attempt at being gracious and the rising tension she felt shimmering off of him. It must be stressful, she mused, being from such a temperamental caste. Olwen gave him a small but very amused smile when he untangled himself from her. She returned his bow with a protocol perfect one of her own before making her way through the door, stopping to let him catch up before moving out into the garden.

The Black Widow turned to face him as she spoke, her hands clasped together whilst she studied him in a way not dissimilar than a wolf would study a deer it wanted to have for lunch. She, of course, had no plans to eat the young Herondale, though, it was a different way to dispose of bodies. Olwen would have to muse over the pros and cons of feeding one's enemies to wild animals after this little discussion took place.

“We do.” she said, turning her head away from him for the briefest of moments to catch her thoughts “Are you trained for the bedroom Prince Herondale?” she asked, before turning back to him, a teasing smile on her lips. She would get one of several reactions and she would ignore them all for the most part, instead going on to explain her question “I don’t ask for myself, of course. I ask because you escorted my cousin here today over one of her court members. Which I can assure you did not go unnoticed or is being well received. Then there is also the fact that you have been making cow eyes at her all through the summit.”

She stepped towards him, though making sure there was plenty of space between them “So my question is not only about if you are trained for the bedroom but also if the bedroom is what you are aiming for.”

Tobias had expected many things but not this blunt appraisal of his skills, and his temper sharpened in an instant. Was she attempting to seduce him? It was a strange way to go about it, and while Olwen was a beautiful woman Tobias would rather eat his champagne glass than accept. All she did was remind him of Etain, and she was a poor mirror. “I don't see how that's your business, as I'm not inviting you to my bedchamber, Lady Troy.” His voice was polite despite her rude question, though cold. This woman had a jewel powerful enough to destroy him mind, body, and jewel, but he was a Herondale, not a cowering sycophant.

Her clarification placated his temper, though Tobias had to bite his tongue to keep from claiming he hadn't been making 'cow eyes' at Etain, doing his best to keep a calm face. He probably failed, his annoyance made it difficult, and he quickly realised that might have been the aim behind her provocative actions. Lady Olwen seemed to live up to her reputation of cunning.

“I escorted Lady Etain to promote better relationships between our houses.” Tobias fed her the diplomatic lie, careful not to flinch either in attack or retreat as Olwen advanced, holding himself tense but steady. He met her eyes, trying to hide his emotions while appearing as open and honest as possible. He didn't bother adding that the move appeared not to be working, that seemed obvious with the way that Etain's family had swarmed her and the occasional dirty looks he'd gotten from them, not to mention Olwen's own acknowledgement of distrust.

“Whether or not I aim for anything beyond that is between Etain and I.”
