Lady Kersin had started the whole summit off well. She’d dressed in what was considered prudent for Dharo, not a recent fashion but one from a few seasons ago. It made the right statement which was picked up by many of the prominent members that were here but, well, it was also built for the average Dharo frame. The women tended to have subtle curves, narrow shoulders and hips and averaged a height of around five foot five. Persi was taller, darker and much wider than what they were used to accommodating which made the dress sit differently.

It wasn’t a bad but it didn’t match the style it was meant to achieve. It hung a little too low of the bust and hugged her curves. The first couple of people had complimented her, backhandedly of course, expressing that they rather liked what she had done with their styles. She had tried to explain that the dress had ended up in a style similar to what a Rhilander witch would wear – something that had not been well received.

But she’d gritted her teeth through the several interactions and after a while had sent Rainor off to spent time with his family, whilst she retained her other escort – a Warlord who had a much calmer disposition, though apparently didn’t have any issues insulting at least one district Queen from another Province.

Perhaps if they’d only mentioned her clothes she would not have made her escape, but then, they decided to launch into the deal Askavi had made with Ludaea and after one to many comments about how the males in the Province had acted in a very un-Dharo like fashion it wasn’t only her escort that was getting snippy. They all seemed to be under the impression that she had some control over what had gone on; ignoring the fact that she had been a part of the deal and not the broker.

Her patience was not endless though and so after one last remark from a Warlord Prince who ran a district, she finally had enough and told the aforementioned asshole that if the rest of Dharo was so concerned with the problems of Ludaea then perhaps they should have sent someone to help, especially since it seemed as if the Province of Amelia had such an abundance of Queens that sharing them out seemed hardly a problem.

Before the Warlord Prince could respond she had detangled herself from her escort, declared that she needed some air and made good her escape. She pushed through the milling crowds, ignoring the looks, stares and the one or two people who asked her if she was alright until she found the door that led to the estates gardens.

For a few moments she leant against one of the stone walls, taking in a few gulps of air. She needed to be outside; she needed the land underneath her feet and hands. She removed her shoes without thinking and made her way down the steps, across the gravel and onto the grass. Curling her toes into the earth she sighed and closed her eyes sighed.

Now that she had that connection with the land she could focus and centre, think about how she would approach the rest of the summit and hopefully let those looks, comments and remarks fade away.

Throughout the evening, Rainor wasn't quite sure how to handle the comments on Persi's looks. At first he didn't think much of them becuase he, in fact, did like her curves - and he was not quite ready to think about the meaning of that - but the comments must have meant something different to her because they were upsetting. Pointed glares didn't help much and then Persi shuffled him off to spend time with his family.

Despite being away from her, Rainor did his best to track Persi as well. He wanted to see and catch up with his family, as well as talk to their new heir. His attention was constantly split between who he was talking to and her. Then, she somehow managed to disappear between one glance in her direction and another, but the Warlord was still there. Rainor excused himself from his current conversation less politely than he should have, and headed over to the Warlord, who was suddenly alone to deal with an angry Red Jeweled Warlord Prince about where their Queen was.

After a few choice words for the Warlord for letting Persi get away, Rainor headed outside. An edge of panic began to set in when he didn't immediately spot her and his temper sharpened as he descended the stairs and into the garden. It was early in the season, so the area still had a lot of work to be done on but Rainor didn't notice any of the plants. He reached out with his Red and found a familiar Summer-Sky. It wasn't until he spotted her that his temper was somewhat soothed and Rainor made his way across the gravel to squat in front of her.

"Are you alright?" He asked, the edge of his temper still evident in his voice. He didn't usually get angry as quickly as other Warlord Princes did, but there was something about this Queen that had him more easily worked up. Yet, her presence alone was able to leash his temper when it wasn't needed.

She curled her toes into the soft grass and listened to the steady beat of the land around her. The land had a voice, a heartbeat. It sang and cried, it felt pain and happiness. She was a Queen and so, unlike the rest of the blood, was very tuned into the various rhythms and cycles of the world they lived it. That wasn't to say others weren't. Her former Gardener was perhaps even more in tune than any Queen. A soft smile pulled at her lips as the memory of the middle aged Warlord rolled across her mind. There had been many times when she swore that he was the embodiment of the land come to life.

She missed him.

That thought made her crouch down and run a few fingers over the grass, listening to everything it had to say. Weak but growing stronger, yet it was well cared for, nurtured and loved. The respect she had for the Territory Queen of Dharo grew just a little stronger as those notes washed over her. This was a Queen who knew how to coax things into being, a Queen who would use her resources wisely.

Persi felt Rainor coming before hearing his feet crunch the gravel. Once again she closed her eyes but this time it was to listen to the male and not too the land. His concern wafted off of him and she swore the air vibrated with his suppressed anger and yet when he spoke he was gentle, though the temper still laced his voice.

"Yes," she said softly, opening her eyes to look at her first escort "I just needed some air and time to gather my thoughts." she'd been selfish in that moment, thought only of herself and not the two males whose beings were bred to be the guardians of Queens "I should have said something before leaving." she acknowledged, mentally making a note to stub her toe later "I did not mean to frighten you or Lord Hauver." she removed one hand from the grass and reached up too touch the back of his hand, a silent sign that she was sorry and that she would accept fussing with minimal grumbles if he felt that was what was needed.

In Rainor's opinion, Persi should have taken either himself or Lord Hauver, not just said something before leaving. She may wear the Red, but there were several whose Jewels were at least a rank darker than hers. The words were on the tip of his tongue, but he held them back. He let her hand rest on his for a moment before he took off the suit coat he was wearing and wrapped it around her shoulders. It was far too big on her, but he was struck with the sudden realization that he liked seeing her wearing something that was his.

It was almost enough to distract him from the current situation in general, and just enough to distract him from his temper.

"It's alright," he said to her, fussing a bit with the jacket until he was satisfied it would stay on her shoulders since he hadn't gotten her to put her arms through the sleeves. He looked her over, just to reassure himself that nothing was physically wrong with her. Emotionally... he couldn't be so sure. The night had to be at least a bit overwhelming for someone from another Territory. Although he wasn't sure what sort of effects the words of other Aristos might have on her, he assumed they hurt at least a little.

Rainor eyed Persi's bare feet, deciding that it was too cold for that, but who was he to tell a Queen she couldn't have contact with the land? At least, for a little while. It probably wasn't dangerous yet.

"Has the land been helpful?" He asked. She claimed she needed air, but he assumed what she really meant was the land. Or maybe both.
